Suurusmõjud
Suurusmõjud, or size effects, refer to the phenomenon where the physical and chemical properties of a material change as its dimensions decrease to the nanoscale. These changes are not observed in bulk materials and are a direct consequence of the increased surface area to volume ratio at smaller scales. As particles become smaller, a larger proportion of their atoms reside on the surface, making surface interactions and quantum mechanical effects more significant.
This means that properties like melting point, electrical conductivity, and optical absorption can be drastically altered.
