Suojakaasuksi
Suojakaasuksi, often translated as "shielding gas" or "protective gas" in English, refers to a gas or mixture of gases used to protect a molten metal from atmospheric contamination during welding or other high-temperature processes. The primary purpose of a suojakaasuksi is to displace air, which contains oxygen and nitrogen, from the weld zone. Oxygen can cause oxidation, leading to brittle welds and defects, while nitrogen can dissolve into the molten metal and cause porosity.
Commonly used suojakaasuksi include inert gases such as argon and helium, or active gases like carbon dioxide
