Sunnydale
Sunnydale is a fictional town in California and the primary setting of the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, created by Joss Whedon. It sits atop a Hellmouth, a gateway of mystical energy that attracts vampires, demons, and other supernatural phenomena, concentrating magical activity in the area. Within Sunnydale are landmarks such as Sunnydale High School, the local cemetery, the Bronze nightclub, and the Magic Box, a shop frequented by the protagonists. The core characters, including Buffy Summers and her friends Willow Rosenberg, Xander Harris, and Rupert Giles, confront recurring threats while navigating adolescence and personal growth. Because of the Hellmouth, the town experiences frequent supernatural incidents and apocalyptic plotlines, making Sunnydale a focal point of the series’ mythology. The setting has also influenced later comics and other media within the Buffy the Vampire Slayer franchise.
