Sulaneobacter is a genus of Gram‑negative, rod‑shaped bacteria within the family Enterobacteriaceae. The type species, Sulaneobacter metallophilus, was first described in 2015 after isolation from a saline aquifer in the Negev Desert. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA sequence places the genus within the Enterobacterales order, closely related to the genera Klebsiella and Enterobacter. The genus name derives from the Latin "sulane" meaning sulfur and the Greek "bacter" meaning rod, reflecting its sulfur metabolism.
