Sukupuolisolu, also known as gamete, is a cell involved in sexual reproduction. In organisms that reproduce sexually, each gamete contains half the number of chromosomes of a normal somatic cell. This reduction in chromosome number is achieved through a process called meiosis. When two gametes fuse during fertilization, they form a zygote, which contains the complete set of chromosomes and develops into a new individual.
