Sui

Sui is a term used in several contexts, including history, ethnography, and technology.

In Chinese history, the Sui dynasty (581–618 CE) was a short-lived imperial regime that reunified China after the period of division known as the Southern and Northern Dynasties. It was founded by Yang Jian, who became Emperor Wen. The dynasty consolidated central authority, implemented administrative reforms, and commissioned large-scale infrastructure projects, most notably the early Grand Canal. It faced widespread internal resistance and costly campaigns, and it collapsed in 618, after which the Tang dynasty emerged.
