Sugárzásforrások refer to anything that emits radiation. Radiation is energy that travels through space or a medium in the form of waves or particles. Understanding the different types of radiation sources is crucial in various fields, including physics, medicine, and environmental science.

There are two primary categories of radiation sources: natural and artificial. Natural radiation sources are ubiquitous in our environment and have always existed. Examples include cosmic radiation from outer space, terrestrial radiation from naturally occurring radioactive elements in the Earth's crust like uranium and thorium, and internal radiation from radioactive isotopes present within the human body, such as potassium-40. Radon gas, a product of the decay of uranium in the soil, is another significant natural source.

Artificial radiation sources are created by human activities. These include medical applications like X-ray machines, CT scanners, and radiotherapy equipment, which utilize controlled radiation for diagnosis and treatment. Nuclear power plants and nuclear weapons are also significant artificial sources, producing ionizing radiation as a byproduct of nuclear reactions. Other examples include certain consumer products that may contain small amounts of radioactive material or emit non-ionizing radiation, such as microwave ovens and mobile phones. The type and intensity of radiation emitted by a source determine its potential impact and the necessary safety precautions.
