Subordnede

Subordnede is a Danish term used to refer to individuals, groups, or units that are under the authority of a higher-ranking person. In an organizational setting, subordnede employees report to a supervisor, have defined duties, and are subject to supervision, evaluation, and company policies. The relationship is guided by employment contracts, workplace rules, and applicable labor law, and it shapes lines of authority, decision-making, and accountability.

In linguistics, subordination describes the dependency of one clause on another. A subordinate clause cannot stand alone and functions to provide information such as reasons, conditions, or time. It is connected to a main clause by subordinating conjunctions like because, if, although, or when. For example: "We stayed home because it rained." Here, the clause "because it rained" is subordinate to the main clause and explains the reason for staying home.

Etymology: the term derives from the Latin subordinatus, meaning placed under order; related terms appear across European languages to denote hierarchical dependence.
