Strömungsarten

Strömungsarten refers to the classification of fluid flow based on various characteristics. One primary distinction is between laminar and turbulent flow. Laminar flow is characterized by smooth, orderly fluid motion where layers of fluid slide past each other with minimal mixing. This typically occurs at low velocities and with high viscosity fluids. Turbulent flow, conversely, is irregular and chaotic, with eddies and swirls that cause significant mixing. This is common at higher velocities and with low viscosity fluids.

Another classification is based on compressibility. Incompressible flow assumes that the fluid's density remains constant throughout the flow field. This is a reasonable approximation for liquids and for gases at low speeds. Compressible flow accounts for changes in fluid density, which is important for gases at high speeds or under significant pressure variations.

Flow can also be categorized as steady or unsteady. Steady flow means that the fluid properties at any given point in space do not change with time. Unsteady flow, also known as transient flow, exhibits temporal variations in fluid properties at specific locations.

Furthermore, flow can be described as viscous or inviscid. Viscous flow considers the internal friction within the fluid, which leads to energy dissipation and boundary layer effects. Inviscid flow, an idealization, assumes the fluid has no viscosity, simplifying analysis by neglecting friction and boundary layers. The choice of classification depends on the specific phenomena being studied and the desired level of accuracy in the analysis.
