Stiluri

Stiluri is the plural form of stil in Romanian, referring to distinctive ways of expression, method, or approach in art, design, communication and behavior. The term describes patterns that make something recognizable and that emerge from the combination of technique, media, cultural context and personal or collective identity. Styles can be historical or ongoing, broad or highly specific.

In visual arts and architecture, stiluri denote movements or schools such as Renaissance, Baroque, Romanticism, Realism, Impressionism, modernism, and postmodernism, as well as architectural styles like Gothic, Classical, Baroque, Neoclassical, International Style and Brutalism. In literature and music, they refer to how authors and composers shape language, form, rhythm and tonality—for example Realism, Modernism, Symbolism in literature; Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Jazz, Rock in music.

In design and fashion, stiluri describe approaches to form, color, and function, including minimalist, maximalist, Bauhaus, Swiss design, or haute couture versus prêt-à-porter. In digital media, style also appears as presentation conventions or style sheets (for example CSS) that determine visual appearance and layout.

Stiluri are analyzed by historians, critics and curators to understand influences, innovations and the evolution of cultural expressions. They are not rigid categories but tools to describe tendencies that can blend or evolve over time.
