Stenarna
Stenarna is a natural field of stones located in the Nordic region, consisting of scattered boulders and standing slabs that stretch across a coastal plateau and inland hills. The name derives from Swedish stenarna, meaning “the stones,” with the definite plural suffix -arna, used by locals and in map names since the medieval period.
Geology and formation: The stones are largely granitoid in composition, with some gneiss and quartzite elements.
Archaeology and culture: A number of stones bear cup marks or shallow carvings that have been interpreted
Conservation and access: Stenarna is part of a protected landscape area and is subject to conservation rules.
