Statuskoodeja, often translated as status codes, are three-digit numbers used in HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol) to indicate the outcome of a request made by a client, typically a web browser, to a server. These codes are an integral part of the web communication process, allowing clients to understand what happened after they attempted to access a resource.

The codes are categorized into five classes, each denoted by the first digit. Class 1xx codes are informational, meaning the request has been received and the process is continuing. Class 2xx codes indicate success; the request was successfully received, understood, and accepted. Class 3xx codes signify redirection; further action needs to be taken by the client to complete the request. Class 4xx codes represent client errors, meaning the request contains bad syntax or cannot be fulfilled. Finally, class 5xx codes denote server errors, indicating that the server failed to fulfill an apparently valid request.

Common examples include 200 OK, signifying that the request was successful, and 404 Not Found, indicating that the requested resource could not be found on the server. Other frequently encountered codes include 301 Moved Permanently, which redirects the client to a new URL, and 500 Internal Server Error, which points to a problem on the server's end.
