Staticroundrobin

Static round-robin is a load balancing algorithm that distributes incoming network traffic or computational tasks evenly among a group of servers or resources. Unlike dynamic algorithms that adapt to server load, static round-robin assigns requests sequentially to each available server in a fixed order. This means that server 1 receives the first request, server 2 receives the second, server 3 the third, and so on. Once the last server in the sequence has received a request, the cycle repeats, with server 1 receiving the next request.

The primary advantage of static round-robin is its simplicity and ease of implementation. It requires minimal overhead as it does not need to monitor server health or current load. This makes it a cost-effective solution for environments where servers are expected to have similar processing capabilities and consistent availability. It can effectively distribute traffic across a cluster of identical servers, preventing any single server from becoming a bottleneck.

However, static round-robin has limitations. It does not account for variations in server performance or actual load. If one server is significantly slower or already busy with a long-running task, it will still receive its allocated share of new requests, potentially leading to performance degradation for users accessing that specific server. Similarly, if a server becomes unavailable, static round-robin will continue to send requests to it until the cycle reaches the next available server, which can cause delays or connection failures. For these reasons, it is most suitable for homogenous environments with stable server loads and minimal risk of individual server failures.
