Stateform

Stateform is a term used in political science and political theory to describe the form or structure of a state. It covers how sovereignty is organized, how political power is distributed, and how the state relates to society. It includes constitutional arrangements, territorial organization, and the governing regime.

In comparative politics, state forms are typically classified by territorial arrangement (unitary vs federal) and by regime type (monarchy, republic, dictatorship). The term is closely related to, but distinct from, form of government, which usually concerns the executive and legislative relationship rather than the broader constitutional and institutional framework.
