Standardljusförhållanden

Standardljusförhållanden, often translated as standard lighting conditions, refers to a set of defined parameters used in photometry and colorimetry to ensure consistent and reproducible measurements of light and color. These conditions are crucial for comparing results obtained by different instruments or in different locations.

The most commonly referenced standard lighting conditions are defined by the International Commission on Illumination (CIE). These include standardized sources of illumination, such as CIE Illuminant D65, which simulates average daylight, and CIE Illuminant A, which simulates incandescent lamps. Each illuminant is characterized by its spectral power distribution, describing the relative intensity of light at different wavelengths.

In addition to the light source, standard observation conditions are also specified. These typically involve a standard observer, defined by average human color perception data, and specified viewing geometries. For example, measurements may be taken at a 45-degree angle of incidence and a 0-degree angle of observation (45/0 geometry) or vice versa (0/45 geometry).

The purpose of establishing standardljusförhållanden is to eliminate variability introduced by differences in light sources, ambient lighting, and individual color perception. This allows for accurate and reliable comparisons of color, brightness, and other photometric properties of objects and materials, which is essential in fields such as manufacturing, textiles, paint, and digital imaging.
