SqlDbTypeNVarChar
SqlDbTypeNVarChar is a data type used in Microsoft SQL Server that represents variable-length Unicode character data. The 'N' prefix signifies Unicode, meaning it can store a wide range of characters from various languages and symbols. 'VarChar' indicates that the storage size varies up to the maximum specified length. When you declare a column or parameter with SqlDbTypeNVarChar, you must also specify a maximum length, ranging from 1 to 4000 characters. If you omit the length, it defaults to a maximum of 1 character. Data stored using this type is converted to Unicode representation, typically using UTF-16 encoding. This makes it suitable for storing international text, names, addresses, and other textual data where character set compatibility is important. Compared to SqlDbTypeVarChar, which stores non-Unicode data, SqlDbTypeNVarChar consumes more storage space per character due to its two-byte-per-character encoding. It is commonly used in applications that need to handle multilingual content.
