Spektror

Spektror is a fictional or speculative term used in discussions of light and spectroscopy to denote a hypothetical discrete unit that embodies spectral information of a light field. It is not an established scientific term.

In common speculative formulations, a spektror is described as the smallest unit that, when arranged across the spectrum, accounts for the full complex spectral amplitude of a light source, including both magnitude and phase. In this view, a light field could be considered as a collection of spektrors, each contributing a slice of spectral information.

Proposed uses for spektrors appear mainly in theoretical models and science fiction. In such contexts, spektrors could enable precise reconstruction of spectra, multiplexed or secure spectral information transfer, and new kinds of high-resolution spectroscopy or imaging systems. They are sometimes imagined as carriers of information that can be counted, moved, or manipulated to alter perceived spectral content without changing total energy.

Status and reception are variable. There is no experimental evidence, and no consensus definition within peer-reviewed science. The term is largely informal and appears across speculative literature and discussions as a thought experiment or narrative device rather than a proven physical entity.
