Soojustav

Soojustav is a term used primarily in Estonian-language discourse to describe objects, systems, or materials that provide warming effects or improve thermal retention. The word derives from soojus, meaning heat, and the suffix -stav, which forms adjectives indicating a property or capability, roughly translating to “warming” or “heat-retaining.”

In practice, soojustav concepts appear in several domains. In architecture and building design, soojustav solutions aim to reduce heat loss and maximize passive heat gains through improved insulation, airtight envelopes, thermal mass, and optimized glazing. In textiles and consumer goods, the term can describe fabrics, coatings, or devices that retain or generate heat, such as insulating garments or portable warmers. In policy and planning discussions, soojustav approaches are referenced as part of broader energy-efficiency and climate-resilience strategies, sometimes alongside active heating technologies.
