Skydeck

Skydeck is a 103rd-floor observation deck located in the Willis Tower, a skyscraper in Chicago, Illinois. The Skydeck is situated at a height of 1,353 feet (412 meters) above the ground and offers panoramic views of the city from its large glass balconies that extend out 4.3 feet (1.3 meters) from the building.

The Skydeck was opened in 1975 and underwent a major renovation and expansion in 2009. The observation deck has since become one of the most popular tourist attractions in Chicago, drawing over a million visitors annually. Visitors can experience the Skydeck's glass-ledge balcony, which is usually referred to as the "Ledge," which appears to be suspended in mid-air and provides an unobstructed view of the city below.

From the Skydeck, visitors can take in stunning views of Lake Michigan, the Chicago River, and many of the city's prominent landmarks, including Wrigley Field and the Church of the Epiphany. On a clear day, it is possible to see up to 50 miles (80 kilometers) in every direction. The Skydeck also features a museum room displaying artifacts from the history of the Willis Tower, including a reconstructed office from the tower's initial construction.

In 2014, the Skydeck was renovated to feature interactive exhibits and educational programs focused on the science and history of the tower and the city. In addition to its glass balcony, the Skydeck also offers telescopes and binoculars for visitors to use to get a closer look at the city and surrounding landscape.
