Skelettdannende

Skelettdannende is a German adjective used in scientific contexts to describe something that forms or contributes to the skeleton. It translates roughly as bone-forming or skeleton-forming and can modify cells, tissues, processes, or factors involved in skeletal development and maintenance. The term is most common in German-language literature and may appear in discussions of embryology, osteogenesis, or comparative anatomy.

In vertebrate development, skeleton formation proceeds through skeletogenic processes such as intramembranous ossification and endochondral ossification. Skelettdannende cells, including osteoblasts and chondroblasts, contribute to the formation of bone and cartilage templates that are subsequently mineralized or replaced by bone.
