Sjukvårds

Sjukvårds is a Swedish term that translates to healthcare or medical care. It encompasses the entire system of services and institutions responsible for maintaining and restoring the health of individuals within a society. This includes a wide range of activities, from preventive measures and early diagnosis to treatment of illness and injury, rehabilitation, and palliative care.

The Swedish healthcare system is largely publicly funded and organized. It is characterized by principles of universal access, free or low-cost services at the point of use, and a strong emphasis on primary care. Patients typically access the system through local health centers (vårdcentraler) where general practitioners (läkare) provide initial assessments and referrals.
