Siveltimessä

Siveltimessä, also known as kilpailuvesi or olympia-vesi, is a type of high-speed hydrodynamics research facility located in Espoo, Finland. The facility was opened in 1991 and is currently owned and operated by VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, a nonprofit research and technology organization.

Siveltimessä is a 65-meter-long and 2.5-meter-diameter rectangular tank that uses a 150-kilowatt pump to create a flow of 30 cubic meters per second. The facility is designed to simulate a wide range of water flow conditions, from shallow and slow to deep and fast, and is used for research and development of various topics, such as hydroelectric power generation, ship resistance and propulsion, and ice dynamics.

The facility has been used in various scientific research projects, including studies on the hydrodynamics of sea ice, ocean currents, and wave dynamics. It has also been involved in the testing and validation of new technologies and equipment for water flow simulation and measurement.

In addition to its research capabilities, Siveltimessä has also been used for education and training purposes, providing hands-on experience for students and professionals in the field of hydrodynamics and water flow measurement.
