Sisesekretoorsed
Sisesekretoorsed refers to the endocrine system in Estonian. This is a complex network of glands and organs that use hormones to control and coordinate the body's metabolism, energy level, reproduction, growth and development, and response to injury, mood, and other functions. The endocrine system is made up of the hypothalamus, pituitary gland, thyroid gland, parathyroid glands, adrenal glands, pancreas, ovaries (in females), and testes (in males). These glands produce and secrete chemical messengers called hormones, which travel through the bloodstream to target cells and organs, regulating various bodily processes. For example, insulin, produced by the pancreas, regulates blood sugar levels, while thyroid hormones control metabolism. Disruptions to the endocrine system can lead to various health conditions, often referred to as endocrine disorders. These can include diabetes, thyroid problems, and growth disorders. The study and treatment of these conditions fall under the medical specialty of endocrinology.
