Singlesheet

A singlesheet, also called a one-sheet, is a single-page promotional document used to advertise a film, event, or product. In film distribution, it functions as a poster-like sheet circulated to theaters, media, and retailers to provide essential information and visual appeal for a release.

Typical content includes the work’s title, key artwork, a tagline or logline, principal cast and crew, a brief synopsis, release date, rating, and studio or production company credits. It may also feature quotes from reviews, the distributor’s contact information, and a barcode or distribution details. The design aims to be visually striking while conveying concise, at-a-glance information to industry professionals and potential exhibitors.

Format and production standards vary by market. Historically, one-sheets were large posters, commonly 27x40 inches in the United States, intended for display in lobby areas and promotional venues. In other markets, smaller formats such as 11x17 inches or A3 are used. With digital distribution, many singlesheets are produced as PDF or image files suitable for online promotion and press use, sometimes serving as part of a broader press kit.

Usage and purpose center on marketing efficiency: the singlesheet provides a quick reference to the property, aiding exhibitors, press, and retailers in assessing a release. It is distinct from more comprehensive press kits or layout sheets, which may contain additional materials and sampling guidelines.
