The Sikyong is the political leader of the Tibetan government-in-exile, also known as the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA). The term "Sikyong" translates to "political leader" in the Tibetan language. The position was established in 2011, replacing the previous title of Kalon Tripa, which meant "Prime Minister." The Sikyong is directly elected by Tibetans living in exile worldwide.
