Siaya

Siaya is a town in western Kenya that serves as the administrative centre and capital of Siaya County. Located on the eastern shore of Lake Victoria near the Yala River, it lies within a region traditionally inhabited by the Luo people. The town is part of the Lake Victoria Basin and lies along major transport routes connecting Kisumu, Bondo, and other towns in the region.

The economy of Siaya centers on fishing from Lake Victoria, small-scale farming in the surrounding rural areas, and trade. Common crops include maize, sorghum, millet, and vegetables. The town hosts markets, schools, and health facilities that serve both the urban center and the wider county.
