Shimosa is a historical province of Japan located in the eastern part of Honshu. It was one of the provinces that made up the Kanto region and was also known as Shōshū. The area that comprised Shimosa is now part of modern-day Chiba Prefecture and Ibaraki Prefecture. The name "Shimosa" can be translated to "lower Musashi," indicating its historical relationship with the neighboring province of Musashi.
