Shanower
Shanower is a small coastal town situated in the eastern region of Fenland County. The town covers an area of approximately 12 square kilometres and had a recorded population of 3,427 residents as of the 2011 census. The name Shanower is derived from the Old English words "shān" meaning stone and "ower" meaning hill, a reference to the prominent limestone outcrop that rises near the town centre. The settlement developed in the early 18th century as a fishing community and later expanded following the construction of the Fenland Railway in 1857.
