Settekavides

Settekavides is a type of fishing boat originating from the coastal regions of Norway and Denmark. The name "Settekavides" is derived from the Norwegian words "sette", meaning to set or to lay, and "kavides", referring to a type of vessel.

Historically, Settekavides were used for trawling and cod fishing in the North Sea. These boats were designed to navigate the shallow waters and icy conditions of the region, with a shallow draft that allowed them to operate in waters as little as 3-4 meters deep. The boats were typically around 10-12 meters in length, with a beam of around 3-4 meters.

The characteristics of Settekavides include a flat bottom, a straight keel, and a distinctive bilge that helped to lift the boat's freeboard in rough seas. The boat was crewed by a team of fishermen, who worked together to haul in the nets and sort the catch.

Over time, the design of the Settekavides has evolved to accommodate changing fishing regulations and technological advancements. Modern versions of the vessel are equipped with advanced navigation and communication systems, as well as more efficient fishing gear.
