Sestupujeme

Sestupujeme is a Czech verb form meaning "we descend" or "we are descending." It comes from the imperfective verb sestupovat, whose basic sense is to go down or move downward. The form is used for ongoing or repeated downward movement, such as hikers coming down a mountain or people leaving a higher floor to a lower one. The related perfective verb sestoupit expresses a single, completed descent and is used in future or perfective contexts.

Grammatical notes: In present tense, sestupovat is conjugated as já sestupuji, ty sestupuješ, on sestupuje, my sestupujeme, vy sestupujete, oni sestupují. The form sestupujeme specifically marks the first-person plural present. The perfective counterpart sestoupit does not have a present tense; its future is formed with a future compound and, in past narration, with appropriate past forms. The prefix sest- indicates downward movement in contrast to stoupit, which means to rise or ascend.
