Sentralmaksimumet
Sentralmaksimumet, meaning "central maximum" in Norwegian, refers to a peak in the observed data of a geological or environmental study that occurs in the center of the area under investigation. This phenomenon is often observed when studying processes that emanate from a central point or are influenced by a central feature. For instance, in the study of sediment transport in a river delta, the highest deposition rates might be found at the central channels. Similarly, in studies of pollution dispersal from a source, the highest concentrations of pollutants would typically be located around the central emission point.
The identification of a sentralmaksimumet requires careful data collection across the entire study area. Statistical analysis
