Sekundärgödsel

Sekundärgödsel refers to nutrients that are not the primary macronutrients (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium) but are still essential for plant growth. These are often called secondary nutrients. The main secondary nutrients are calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), and sulfur (S).

Calcium plays a vital role in cell wall structure and function, nutrient transport, and enzyme activity. A deficiency in calcium can lead to stunted growth and blossom end rot in fruits. Magnesium is a central component of chlorophyll, the pigment responsible for photosynthesis, and is also involved in enzyme activation. Magnesium deficiency often manifests as interveinal chlorosis, where the tissue between the veins turns yellow. Sulfur is a component of amino acids, proteins, and vitamins, and is crucial for chlorophyll formation and enzyme systems. Sulfur deficiency can result in general yellowing of the plant, particularly in younger leaves.

These secondary nutrients are absorbed by plants from the soil. While typically present in sufficient amounts in most soils, deficiencies can occur due to intensive farming, leaching, or soil pH imbalances. Fertilizers that supply these nutrients are available, such as calcium nitrate, magnesium sulfate (Epsom salts), and gypsum. Understanding the role of sekundärgödsel is important for balanced plant nutrition and optimal crop yields.
