Seitlicht
Seitlicht is a German term that translates to "side light" in English. It refers to the light that illuminates the side of an object, as opposed to the main light source or the backlight. In photography, seitlicht is used to create depth and dimension in an image. It can be achieved by positioning a light source to the side of the subject, casting shadows and highlighting different features. This technique is commonly used in portrait photography to add a sense of realism and three-dimensionality to the subject. In art and design, seitlicht can also refer to the use of light to create contrast and emphasis on the sides of an object or surface. The term is derived from the German words "Seite" meaning "side" and "Licht" meaning "light".
