Seeriaühenduses

Seeriaühenduses, meaning "in series connection" in Estonian, refers to a fundamental electrical configuration where components are connected one after another, forming a single, continuous path for electrical current. In a series circuit, the same current flows through each component. If the circuit is broken at any point, the entire circuit stops functioning.

The total resistance in a series circuit is the sum of the individual resistances of each component. Similarly, the total voltage across the series combination is the sum of the voltage drops across each individual component. This means that if you add more resistors in series, the total resistance increases, and the current decreases, assuming a constant voltage source.

Common examples of series connections include old-fashioned Christmas lights, where if one bulb burned out, the entire string would go dark. Another example is the arrangement of batteries in a flashlight; they are connected in series to increase the total voltage supplied to the bulb. Understanding series connections is crucial for basic electronics and electrical engineering as it forms the basis for more complex circuit designs.
