Seanimal is a term used in speculative biology and science fiction to describe a hypothetical class of marine animals. It is not a real taxonomic group but a conceptual category used to explore how life might adapt to underwater environments. In many treatments, seanimals are depicted as exhibiting convergent traits that allow success across diverse ocean habitats.

Seanimals vary in form from gelatinous drifters to more rigid, torpedo-shaped bodies. Common features include enhanced buoyancy control, bioluminescent tissues, and sensory systems adapted to low light, such as lateral-line–like networks or electroreceptors. Some depictions show jet-like propulsion or flexible fins, enabling agile movement through water columns, reefs, and seafloor terrain. Reproduction and development are also versatile, ranging from broadcast spawning to direct development in brooding individuals.
