Schulterinnenrotation refers to the internal rotation of the shoulder joint, a movement where the humerus (upper arm bone) rotates inward towards the body's midline. This action is primarily facilitated by the subscapularis muscle, which is part of the rotator cuff. Other contributing muscles include the pectoralis major, latissimus dorsi, and teres major.

The range of motion for internal shoulder rotation is crucial for many everyday activities, such as reaching into a car, dressing oneself, or throwing a ball. It is an integral part of complex movements like swimming, tennis serves, and pitching in baseball. Deficits in shoulder internal rotation can significantly impact functional ability and may lead to compensatory movements and potential injury.

Common causes of reduced shoulder internal rotation include muscle tightness, particularly of the posterior capsule and the infraspinatus and teres minor muscles.
