Schafstedt

Schafstedt is a municipality in the Dithmarschen district of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is situated on the Elde river, approximately 10 kilometers south of Heide. The municipality is part of the Amt Mitteldithmarschen.

The earliest documented mention of Schafstedt dates back to 1493. Historically, the area has been characterized by agriculture, with marsh and geest landscapes influencing settlement patterns and land use. Like many communities in the region, its development has been shaped by its proximity to the North Sea and the agricultural opportunities it presented.
