Savukaasulämmitys

Savukaasulämmitys, also known as flue gas condensation heating, is a heating system technology that recovers additional heat from the exhaust gases of combustion appliances. In a conventional heating system, hot flue gases are expelled directly into the atmosphere, carrying away significant amounts of thermal energy. Savukaasulämmitys captures this waste heat through a condensation process.

The process involves cooling the flue gases below their dew point. As the water vapor present in the flue gases condenses into liquid water, it releases latent heat. This recovered heat is then used to preheat the incoming combustion air or to warm the heating system's water. This increases the overall efficiency of the heating appliance, as more energy is extracted from the fuel.

Condensing boilers, which are the primary application of savukaasulämmitys, are designed to operate at lower temperatures, which facilitates condensation. They typically utilize special heat exchangers made from corrosion-resistant materials to handle the acidic condensate produced. The condensate is then safely drained away.

The benefits of savukaasulämmitys include improved fuel efficiency, reduced energy consumption, and lower emissions. By extracting more heat from the fuel, less fuel is required to achieve the desired heating output. This leads to cost savings for the user and a reduced environmental impact. Savukaasulämmitys is particularly effective when used in conjunction with low-temperature heating systems like underfloor heating or modern radiator systems that operate at lower water temperatures.
