Sambia

Sambia was a historical region located in northeastern Poland and southeastern Kaliningrad Oblast, Russia. It was situated on the Baltic coast, between the Vistula Lagoon and the Curonian Lagoon. The region was historically inhabited by Old Prussians and later became a significant area of German settlement.

For centuries, Sambia was a contested territory. It was part of the Teutonic Knights' State and later became a duchy within Prussia. Following World War II, the area was divided between Poland and the Soviet Union. The northern part, including the historic capital of Königsberg (now Kaliningrad), was incorporated into Russia, while the southern part became part of Poland.

The region is known for its amber deposits, which have been exploited since ancient times. The Baltic Sea coast of Sambia has long been a popular tourist destination. The landscape is characterized by sandy beaches, dunes, and coastal forests. Historically, the region was predominantly rural, with agriculture and fishing being important economic activities.
