Saltsjöbaden

Saltsjöbaden is a locality and resort town on the Baltic coast in Stockholm County, Sweden. It lies on the eastern shore of the Saltsjön bay, about 15 kilometres southeast of central Stockholm, and is part of Nacka Municipality within the Stockholm urban area.

The area developed as a seaside resort in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with grand villas and landscaped streets centered around the Grand Hotel Saltsjöbaden, a long-standing landmark.

The locality is served by the Saltsjöbanan, a suburban electric railway that connects Saltsjöbaden with Slussen in central Stockholm, facilitating commuting and growth.

In 1938, the Saltsjöbaden Agreement was signed here, between the Swedish Employers’ Association and the Trade Union Confederation, a pivotal milestone in Swedish labor relations.

Today Saltsjöbaden remains primarily residential with historic villas, modern homes, and coastal amenities, including a marina and local services. It forms part of the Stockholm metropolitan area and is known for its scenic setting and access to nature.
