Salpetrige
Salpetrige is an adjective used in German and some related languages to describe substances containing saltpeter, or potassium nitrate, or resembling it. The term derives from salpeter (saltpeter), which itself comes from Latin salpetrum via Old French salpêtre. In English, the closest equivalents are nitrate-rich or nitre-bearing, but salpetrige appears primarily in historical or technical texts.
Chemically, salpetrige materials are nitrates and nitrites, including potassium nitrate (KNO3) and sodium nitrate (NaNO3). They
