Saint Yves, also known as Yves Hélory de Kermartin, was a Breton canon lawyer and priest who lived from 1253 to 1303. He is the patron saint of lawyers and jurists. Born in the village of Kermartin in Brittany, France, Yves studied law at the University of Paris and later at the University of Orléans. He was ordained a priest in 1280 and served as a judge in the ecclesiastical court of Rennes.
Yves was known for his deep piety, his charity towards the poor, and his dedication to justice.
After his death, his tomb in Tréguier, Brittany, became a site of pilgrimage, and numerous miracles were
