Sacz

Sacz is a small village situated in northern Poland within the Warmian‑Masurian Voivodeship. It falls under the jurisdiction of Gmina Szczytno in Olsztyn County. Geographically, Sacz lies approximately 5 kilometres east of the town of Szczytno and about 45 kilometres south-east of the regional capital Olsztyn. The village is positioned in a predominantly flat landscape characteristic of the Masurian Lowland, surrounded by agricultural fields and patches of forested land.

The settlement’s history is linked to the broader historical developments of East Prussia. Before the borders shifted following World War II, the area was part of German East Prussia and the village was known by its German name. After the war, when the region was incorporated into Poland, the official name was changed to Sacz. The village has maintained a largely agrarian character throughout the modern era, with small-scale farming serving as the main economic activity for residents.

According to the latest census data, Sacz’s population is modest, numbering in the low hundreds.
