The form sabaplar is not part of everyday modern Turkish and is usually regarded as archaic, dialectal, or a variant spelling; in many contexts, it would be safer to use sebepler. However, in some historical texts and certain proper noun usages, sabaplar may appear, illustrating how language forms shift over time.

Etymology and usage: The word traces to the Arabic sabab, meaning “cause” or “grounds,” and reached Turkish through Ottoman Turkish. In contemporary usage, sabaplar is largely supplanted by sebepler, but the underlying idea—a set of causes or explanations for something—remains central. In phrases such as sebep ve sonuç (cause and effect) or neden, sabaplar functions as a plural form tied to the concept of reason, although the standard plural is sebepler. In scholarly or religious texts, the nuance of “causal conditions” can be expressed with related terms like sebep and neden, depending on the context.
