SS501 was a South Korean boy band formed by DSP Media, then known as Daesung Enterprise. The group debuted on June 8, 2005, with five members: Kim Hyun-joong, Heo Young-saeng, Kim Kyu-jong, Kim Hyung-jun, and Park Jung-min. The name SS501 is a combination of the letters and numbers that have special meanings and create a symbolic meaning. The first "S" stands for "Super" and the second "S" stands for "Star." The number 5 represents the five members of the group, and the number 0 represents eternity.
