SIyksikköjä refers to the units of the International System of Units, commonly known as SI units. This is the modern form of the metric system and the world's most widely used system of measurement. It is a coherent system of units based on seven base units: the meter (m) for length, the kilogram (kg) for mass, the second (s) for time, the ampere (A) for electric current, the kelvin (K) for thermodynamic temperature, the mole (mol) for the amount of substance, and the candela (cd) for luminous intensity.

All other SI units, known as derived units, are formed by combining the base units through multiplication and division. Examples of derived units include the newton (N) for force, which is kg⋅m/s², and the watt (W) for power, which is kg⋅m²/s³. The SI system also includes a set of prefixes, such as kilo (k) for 10³ and milli (m) for 10⁻³, which are used to denote multiples and submultiples of the units. This systematic approach ensures consistency and facilitates scientific and commercial communication globally. The SI units are maintained by the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM).
