SGLTproteiinit, or Sodium-Glucose Cotransporter proteins, are a family of transmembrane proteins primarily responsible for glucose reabsorption in the kidneys and glucose absorption in the small intestine. There are two main subtypes: SGLT1 and SGLT2. SGLT1 is found in the proximal tubules of the kidney and the small intestine, where it plays a critical role in absorbing dietary glucose.
