SFPGBIC
SFPGBIC is a type of transceiver module used in networking, specifically in Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) slots. It is a small, hot-pluggable module that connects a network device's interface to a fiber optic or copper networking cable. The "GBIC" part of the name refers to Gigabit Interface Converter, indicating its capability to handle Gigabit Ethernet speeds. While the term SFPGBIC is sometimes used, it's more accurate to refer to these as SFP modules that support Gigabit speeds. These modules provide flexibility, allowing network administrators to easily upgrade or change the type of network connection without replacing the entire network device. They come in various forms, supporting different fiber types (single-mode or multi-mode) and wavelengths, as well as copper connections. The SFP form factor is significantly smaller than the older GBIC modules, which is why the SFPGBIC designation often implies a miniaturized Gigabit interface.
