SCARA5

SCARA5 is a gene that encodes a protein belonging to the SCARA (Scavenger Receptor Class A) family. Scavenger receptors are a group of cell surface receptors that play a role in the innate immune system and lipid metabolism. The SCARA5 protein is thought to be involved in the uptake of modified lipoproteins and other molecules from the extracellular environment.

The SCARA5 gene is primarily expressed in the liver and kidney, suggesting a role in metabolic processes and waste clearance.
