Särireguleerimine, often translated as exposure control, is a fundamental concept in photography and videography that refers to the process of managing the amount of light that reaches the camera's sensor or film. This control is crucial for achieving a well-exposed image, meaning one that is neither too dark (underexposed) nor too bright (overexposed).

The primary elements that influence särireguleerimine are aperture, shutter speed, and ISO. Aperture, controlled by the diaphragm within the lens, determines the size of the opening through which light passes. A wider aperture (smaller f-number) allows more light in, while a narrower aperture (larger f-number) restricts it.
